Im getting screwed in the butt, ok here is a weee* bit of background...

A guy installed .NET Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, onto my dads server at work. Well little did we all know he installed an Evaluation copy, so now we cant log into the server...the server will still set up network connections and stuff. But we cannot login to it. The guy hasent been returning phone calls and blah blah blah....we cant register the Evaluation copy because we do not know what the serial is. Now there must be somewhere i can find the serial? can i brute force in to find the serial in the reigsty or something? Help me out guys. What should i do. Im trying to leanr as much about this as possible so i can help out. I know very little of this Windows 2003 Server stuff. Can i reinstall it all without losing actual info on the server? (BTW if it matters at all there running Intuit on there server, account program i belive?)

Any surrgestions or helpful comments appricated.

Sorry, this isn't helpful at all. I appologize in advance.

"A guy" installed the evaluation copy of windows 2003 server on a production server and now it doesn't let you log in. This just makes us IT people cringe.

I dont know if it will work or not but I know there is an app out there that will get pull out the Win XP CD Key, it's possible that it will work under 2003 Server also.

I would also reccomend never doing business with this guy again, I would also reccomend that your dad be a little more choosy about who he allows to work on their network equipment.

Your basically SOL. I don't thinkWin2k3 has even been out 120 days yet which means you probably have either a Beta 2 copy or an RC1/2 copy on there. Either one will not accept a serial key from a RTM version of Win2k3. Those are hardcoded to stop after 120 days so even if you do put in a valid serial key it still won't work.

You can try doing a repair with an RTM copy of Win2k3 to see if that will do it but I doubt it will work. Do you have backups of the data on that server?

you can still access the data i believe if you pull the drive out and put it in another server

What "info" are you referring to?

I hope this helps.

I'm looking for a job so if your dad is hiring let me know:p
