Imagine if we had a free market in property. People would own their own telecomm lines/ISPs would be smaller, and so prices would fall.

You'll hire a fiberer, similar to a plumber, who will install fiber to your house. Or, if you're a DIY type, you can go to the local home improvement store, and buy fiber optic cables to install. Just string them out to the poles, theoretically owned by a locally competitive corporation, and voila.

You're probably oblivious to this, but the free market does not and will never work. The reason for that is simple: most corporations only care about returning a profit to their stockholders. They will do whatever they can get away with without taking into account the consequences of their actions. For that, there's a solution: more regulation. If you let corporations do whatever they want things are only bound to get worse.

It's incredibly hilarious that you actually think that corporations care more about the common being of people than the government.
