NET Framework 4.

Hey!

My laptop has started showing a message which says something like "Install NET Framework 4.(something)"

I haven't done anything to the laptop so I am confused why this has appeared and what it actually means! Anyone has any idea?! It says that I should contact the manufacturer but my warranty has run out...Help! 😱

Did you try googling install net framework 4? There might be something you need to download and install.

I did! But I didn't find anything helpful..well nothing that I could download! I was hoping that somebody had a problem like this before and could maybe suggest something that could be done 🙂

You have to be more descriptive. What is telling you to install .net? Is it a windows update message? Perhaps post a screen shot...

That should be a normal file included in Windows Update. Do you have that set to be done? There are usually new updates on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. BTW, - what version of Windows?

I know in XP the .NET Frameworks (and their service packs) are under the "optional" category, but I don't recall if they are that way in Vista or 7.

My 7 auto update included an update to .NET Framework 4 this morning.

Hi guys. Thanks for all the messages and help. The message is asking to install NET4. My Toshiba has the Windows 10 starter pack, but that's no longer working. It was working for over 2 years, so that makes me think that I have done something to the hardware. But I can't think of anything that I have done to cause any of these problems!

Are you talking about Office 2010? If you had the trial version (aka starter pack), and it ran for 2 years in that sate, you may have gotten the validation tool in a windows update. That would have stopped you from using the starter pack. That alone would not mean there is something wrong with your computer.

Unless you are saying you paid for the fuller version when the starter trial period expired, which would make this a different issue.

Sorry, Office 10 is what I meant. I wasn't aware of any trial period for it, I thought it was limited in terms what I could do with it, but not how long I had it for. I'll have to check my papers for it and see what's going on.

Thanks for the advice!

No Problem. Generally, if you paid extra for it when you bought the machine, it's yours. If it just came with the machine, it's probably an evaluation copy. Once you find out for sure, we will know if there are any other issues to be looked a

So you only get this error when running office?
