Prepaid is great if you just want a phone. I had a tracfone for years, and for talking and texting, it worked great. The coverage was incredible (they've got agreements with all major carriers, including Verizaon, I believe), and it was cheap.
Now if you like to yak on the phone for 1000 minutes a month, or need to have a smartphone to update your FB status 15x per day, then a prepaid isn't so great.
I'm on page plus now, because Verizon has, by far, the best coverage in upstate NY. I'm happy paying $28/month with great coverage on my Droid. The 100mb data limit I can live with.
