Nested quotes

I'm for them. At all times. They look fun

Feel free to discuss nested quotes. HOWEVER, if you're caught excessively nesting quotes, you risk receiving a vacation. This is especially true when no conversation is taking place in the quotes. See the rule that I've posted below if you need clarification as to "why?"

In longer threads, they're useful for getting the full context of a conversation. But they do get a little nuts at times.

Is there not an option in Fusetalk to set a max # of nested quotes. Six or something like that would probably work pretty well.

That would be terrible. That's like setting a limit on the amount of cash you could put into your bank account. 😕

Are they germane to the conversation? Can someone understand what you are trying to convey without them? If so, cut to the quick.

I am a utilitarian. Maybe, I should start a religion call Utilitarianism. We would never have to meet because that's all that's required.

This is your last warning - excessive nested quotes very often fall under the no neffing rule:

5) Spamming will not be permitted... Multiple quick nef posts,... and flooding the Forums will not be tolerated.

On one hand, quoting the entire series is usually unnecessary, it's also not easy to edit out the previous quotes. If you miss a bracket it screws up the formatting.
I think the forums should auto collapse all child quotes and only keep the first level quote displayed with the option to toggle open the other quotes (all at once)

Do any forums have that option?

The nesting here if often excessive and unncessary. It's not THAT hard to edit previous posts (plus there is also the Preview button), it just gets really annoying when you are trying to multiple insert comments into a body of text.
