Just an example of how people need to pay more attention to their passwords, and using 2FA when possible. Dont reuse passwords between sites or logins.

Little scary for the average consumer, maybe enough to get their attention?

It's frustrating that so many things still use the "swiss cheese" cell phone push method of 2FA though. We've got authentication tokens...that's really quite better than SMS 2FA. I guess it's better than nothing though.

If we were ever to install these automated "smart" devices in our house (which we're not any hurry to do so), we sure as back would not use the same simple password that's used across multiple sites with varying degrees of security protocols).

Google stated that the family at the beginning of the article never even setup 2FA (although the family claimed it did - likely in preparation for a lawsuit).
