There's been threads on this issue before, and I've seen some links to converter cables. I don't know any links offhand, but there's some pretty good converters out there for smaller prices, I'm sure someone will be in here with a link :)

I want a link for an SNES -> USB converter. I have my SNES controller hooked up by parallel port now, but I have an ancient printer that uses it too, so I have to switch back and forth. USB would be a godsend.

For the love of mike, a brand new Microsoft Sidewinder GamePad PnP would be cheaper than that, and it's a better pad!:Q

Yeah, I found a few forum links that show that they need a microcontroller and stuff... :(

Well... doesn't anyone make a USB controller that looks and feels like the originals?

I just ordered one of the SNES controllers. When it gets here I'll reverse engineer it and make 3 more :)

I looked for one forever and couldn't find any.

Yes I did, and if I can successfully reverse engineer it, I will post instructions on how to copy it :)

All this work when you could just buy an Xbox controller - they're native USB devices.

I've got two of the joytech arcade sticks - perfect for MAME.

And all this work building *anything nice* when you could just buy *generic off the shelf version that you don't really want*.

I want to play SNES games on my PC, with an SNES controller, not an Xbox controller.

I know (have correspoded over email with, anyway) a guy who makes USB device brains. They are just a small circuit board with a microprocessor and some other components on it that take input from a large number of potentiometers and switches (buttons=switches) and feeds it to the computer via USB cable. Pretty cool stuff, lemme find a link.

The original purpose of circuits is for hardcore flightsimmers to build throttle quadrants with more bells and whistles than is possible with a serial or game port.

Not much is available as of now, although you can probably find circuit diagrams if you look hard or email him.

Eh, most of the time I played my SNES I was using my joystick anyway so my XBox arcade stick is a more accurate replacement for that controller.

Metal Slug with an arcade stick > *.games

I still think that PSX controllers over a USB adapter are the way to go. They don't have 6 buttons like some of the Genesis controllers, but with 16 buttons & 2 analog sticks, they cover 99% of all gaming I do.

Does Lik-Sang have any adapters that might fit what you are looking for?

Ok, maybe this question has been asked before but I'll ask it again: What's the point?

To play SNES / NES games on your computer with the ORIGINAL controllers! Much better than a stupid modern usb controller.

Definitely.

I hope they use a really common microcontroller so I can pester my comp. engineering lab TA to throw me the parts I need.

Looking forward to those instructions notfred.
