Is anyone esle concerned about the growing tension in the world?

China is reminding me of pre WWII Germany.

Bush just announced that we would defened Taiwan against China.

CNN.com

China for tougher US policy

Russia in bed with China

Don't even get me started about Israel.

The oppressed people of Palestine, whether those who dwell in that bloodstained holy land or those who continue to bear the brunt of hardship and displacement worldwide, are all in all the victims of Zionist discrimination and aggression," moderate Iranian President Mohammad Khatami said.

Iran's supreme leader, however, went further, claiming evidence proving "that the numbers of the Jewish Holocaust were exaggerated to solicit international sympathy and lay the grounds for the occupation of Palestine and justify the atrocities of the Zionists."

I think a war may be brewing that we will not be able to avoid. And it really scares me that Bush is in charge at this time.

Bush isn't the one to worry about. The leaders of China,Isreal,Palestine,Iran,Iraq are.

Bush has the best hawks at his war table the US has to offer. If anything goes down,we will be there as always.

We should defend Taiwan from mainland aggression, unless we have assurances from China our intersets will not be affected. I don't think that will happen,so Bush did the right thing.

Just my opinion,I have been wrong before.;)

Well, yes the leaders of the other countries are worth worring about but I don't think Bush has the skills or the education to really deal with them.

Bush (Or any other president) doesn't need the skills to deal with anything. That is why they have a cabinet of the most qualified people.

So you feel that the President is just a figure head? No, Bush will be involved in "peace talks" and other meetings with foreign diplomats. He won't be able to have everything written out for him for those.

But he goes into those talks 90% prepared by his advisors.

And besides, he's got his dad to teach him... :p

Seriously, the president of the US is an important person, but who it is doesn't really matter wrt foreign affairs that are so serious.
Bi-partisan agreement is usually reached quickly on issues with serious repercussions, and who is president doesnt matter. The country usually has only one opinion.

Just some thoughts.

Besides in this modern day world economy, china relies as much on US as the US does on them. It's not like pre-ww2 anymore in many ways. War is very unlikely esp if both sides involved have nothing to gain from it. People have learnt that economic gain is generally most important.

Actually, Germany had a lot of financial ties to the countries that they invaided.

Yet, as Christopher McNally, a China specialist at the East-West Center in Hawaii, notes, "growing economic interdependence doesn't guarantee the relationship will grow." There was plenty of interdependence in Europe before both world wars, and it didn't stop either of them.

Also,

"The Chinese have been testing Bush, looking for his limits," said Ashton B. Carter, a Harvard professor and co-author of a 1999 study that examined whether China's real goal was to expand its economic and military influence in the Pacific the way Japan did in the 1930's.

These are both quotes from the link In bed with Russia

I would rather have Bush in charge than Clinton. Clinton would be slipping arms sells and secret info under the table to the chinese government...(I won't rant about it right now :) )

Bush and Powell will handle everything and I have confidence in the leaders he chose to help him with important decisions.

War scares everyone. I hope the leaders think of their people instead of their own political gain. If they do that then we won't have a war.

When have leaders ever thought about the effects of war on their people? And I doubt that we would ship arms to china concidering we are selling arms to Taiwan.
