Nervous and worried...

Alright, I've posted about this before but didn't get much help. I don't know if I'm just being a pussy or what but I wanted to play this sound clip over the school's intercom just for how much I agree with it but I'm getting all worried and sh!t. Here's the text:

"Here are some more parents who oughta be beatin' with heavy clubs and left bleeding in the moonlight. These people with bumper stickers that say 'We are the proud parents of an honor student at the Franklin School' or the Midvale academy or whatever other innocent-sounding name has been assigned to the indoctrination center, where their child has been sent to be stripped of his individuality and turned into an obedient, soul-dead, conformist member of the American consumer culture. What kind of empty people need to validate themselves through the achievements of their children? Here's a bumper sticker I'd like to see: 'We are the proud parents of a child whose self-esteem is sufficient that he doesn't need us promoting his minor scholastic achievements on the back of our car' or 'We are the proud parents of a child who has resisted his teacher's attempts to break his spirit and bend him to the will of his corporate masters." -George Carlin (Run time of 0:53)

We have a morning broadcast class that we get to choose the music we get to play at the begginning and ending of the broadcast. We have about ten seconds at the end of the broadcast where I plan to play the clip until the director shuts off the live feed. What I was going to do is have my friend be the director and have him keep the broadcast live for 43 seconds longer to let the clip play it to the end. Now, the teacher is a pretty cool guy, I've been friends with him for about three years now and he doesn't really care what you play as long as nothing can be traced back to him and get him or his classes in trouble. This is pushing it I believe. I've never upsetted him before and I'd like to keep it that way but it looks that I can't have both ways if I want to play this clip. This is my senior year in that hell hole and I'd like to do something rebellious.

One point is that my teacher is always looking through the glass windows into the Broadcast room to tell the sound person how the sound sounds (turn it up or down or if it has a buzz, static, etc.). My main worry is if he just hears the opening part "Here are some more parents who oughta be beatin' with heavy clubs..." he may rush into the room and yell at me to shut it off. That's one scenario. Another would be he just wouldn't care and let me play it (fat chance). But if the former scenario does happen, I think I'll just ignore him and let it roll to the end but that's a long time considering the clip is almost a minute long.

The only person I'm scared of is my teacher, not my assist principal or principal but just my teacher because I don't want to ruin a pretty good friendship.

I plan on doing this on August 27th FYI. What're your thoughts?

why?

what is your point in wanting to do this?

i'll read your post again, i must have missed it

the only thing in your post i see that relates to the "Why?" is

I wanted to play this sound clip over the school's intercom just for how much I agree with it

i don't get it , sounds like you're a rebel without a cause

If you don't get his explicit permission to play the clip (with his whole foreknowledge of what the clip contains), you're in for a world of trouble. The administration will not react kindly and they will take you down for it. Your teacher, as much of a friend as you may consider him, will most likely be forced to side with them on this.

Don't do it.

My school is full of snobby, conformist, gay kids that I think should hear this. It's a viewpoint I doubt they'd ever seen. It shows how school imprisons the mind (in my opinion).

That's not so much a function of the schools as it is of their parents (IMO).

It is not your place to instill this truth (and it is truth) in their minds; they will learn it in their own time, in their own way. Concentrate on yourself and your own freedom and be content with that.

Well, I doubt if I ask the teacher he'll let me.

oh, ok. yeah, it is likely to change them to giving , caring , helping people, they will probably all join the peace corp after high school due to hearing george carlin (who is a comedian by the way, not a social engineer)

don't bother, you'll just get in trouble and they will still be snobby, conformist, gay kids laughing at you for getting suspended for your stunt

Ah...youth. Young, impressionable, out to change the world!

WTH, go for it. What's the worst they could do to you?

Considering the consequences you will pay for doing this stunt, it is a really stupid thing to do.

What do you think they would be?

Depends on your standing in the school community, what kind of scholarships you have going for you, what kind of recommendations you're planning on getting, etc.

If I had done something at my high school, I probably would have gotten suspended, lost a few recommendations from people I knew in the administration, lost at least one scholarship, probably three or four, and so forth.

It's stupid and juvenile, to be blunt. You won't change anything in the immature snottish minds of your classmates. It's sad, but it's the way it is.

Suspension, which you must declare on your college applications.

Well, I don't really have sh!t going for me to be frank, I have nothing to lose really from that school. I don't have any scholarships to lose, recommendations. I've only had detention once and that was for being late in 7th grade. Unfortunately I'm known at school for being very depressed hence the teachers are always keeping an eye on me in that manner.

Have you been seeing a doctor? Depression isn't something to be taken lightly, and actions like this never feel good in hindsight.
