I'm burning some data that I want to make sure is good and use Nero's Verify Files option while burning. The discs I burned fail this verification but I was suspicous as the files seemed OK and used MD5sum to verify. I created a MD5sum from the original file, copied the files from the burned DVD and checked the MD5sum and it said it's ok. I feel that MD5sum should be a good indicator on the integrity of my files.

I'm curious on how Nero's Verify Files option works and is it reliable? I've read from other sources that it is not.

Can someone explain how it works? It'll say some files are inaccessible, but they work fine and MD5sum properly. I've spanned a RAR archive over 3 DVD discs and said 2 failed. It extracted properly and MD5sum'd properly.
