I have a 24x yamaha 3200e burner, yet nero switches back to 16x everytime, I have tried different brands of cd's even the expensive ones, anyone heard of such?

Many new burners can tell what speed the media is rated at and may adjust their speed. Some drives let you override this feature. Tried flashing the firmware?

You can turn that feature off: Go to "choose recorder", in the lower left corner of that window is a button called "options". Click that, and you will find "Optimum Writespeed Control enabled". Uncheck that box, and it shouldn't bother you anymore :)
