Nero won't recognise burner...

I got a Verbatim burner recently, it's a rebadged Asus.

Nero won't recognise it...even though it came with this version of Nero as OEM software, and it's listed as being compatible with Nero on Nero's site.

Any suggestions? How do i make it see the drive as a cd burner? Windows ME currently sees the drive as an Asus, and i can burn to it with JetAudio, which makes me think i installed it right and Windows detected it right...

All comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave.

The drive came with a version of Nero, and it's not recognized when using this version? That's odd.

Otherwise, try upgrading Nero like Foofoo said

Hello dchakrab,

If the other posts don't fix your problem, this just might do the trick.

It might be a master/slave problem.

How did you pin the new Verbatim burner, master or slave?

Try switching that around, Try switching it's position on the IDE ribbon or try on another IDE connecter.

Good luck,

I'll try playing with the master/slave settings now. I can't update my Nero because every time i download the installer and try to run it, it detects my current version and gives me the option to update it, and then hangs because it can't find a config file, and closes.

I've only got a day or so before i have to send off the rebates on this one, so if i can't make it work by tonight, i'm going to have to return it.

Thanks,

-D.
