i have a Canon Minidv camcorder and I just hooked it up to my pc with a firewire cable, it gives me 5 capturing templates to choose form...
dvd
svcd
dv
Nero digital
custom

Which one will be the best quality?

straight to DV I think but it eats up space.

1 hour video takes up 12.5gb on my computer. What I want to know is which is the best to capture at to save space and keep good quality.

Nero will convert it to fit on a DVD when making a movie. I got a 7gb video that nero converts to 1gb. Quality might not be as good though.

I just use the default(type 1 I think) since Nero says if you ain't sure just go with type 1 lol. I was never sure so I went with type 1 😀. If someone who knows the difference could make a suggestion?

Like I said don't forget to go in before burning and adjust how Nero shrinks the video. You could get better quality video.

I'd do MPEG2 or Xvid. If you plan to do a lot of editing and want maximum quality you'll prolly want to capture to a lossless format (note the file size will be HUGE), do what you need to do with it, then when you convert to something smaller, it wil be better quality since you aren't trying to say encode/compress an already encoded video.
