nero uses 100% cpu?

whenever I burn a cd on nero, it makes everything else almost completely halt. with just about nothing else open, and nero burning a cd, my cpu usage is constanly 100% on my 2100+ @ 2.15GHz/333. I'm using it with the liteon 48x24x48 burner. Also, burning 700mbs with my 48x tdk cdrs has never taken less than 6mins
 
Did you enable DMA on your drives? I think thats your problem. PIO mode slows systems down to a crawl.
 
You might have to disable Ultra DMA for CD writer in BIOS, and set it only in Windows. It is the only way to make a CD drive go on DMA transfers on some mainboards/CD drives (but this was about 2 years ago)
