From cdrinfo.com:

What's New:

- After a successful burn, the main Nero window was not maximised if it was previously set to be maximised.
- The calculation of the time needed to erase a CD-RW has been improved.
- Corrections made to creating Video and SuperVideo CDs:
* Pauses between differing tracks was being ignored when menus were used
* Some players couldn't properly forward/reverse between tracks

- Problems starting Nero with the anti-virus package DrWeb have been fixed.
- The burning of image files has been optimised. The time needed to generate relocation information has been significantly reduced.
- The archive attribute is cleared when burning Multi-session CDs. This can only be turned off in the expert menu.

After this update it now tells me I can not use Nero with my TDK 12X burner. Shrug, it came bundled with Nero 5.x and the official 5.5 upgrade policy was that all 5.x and 5.x OEM users were allowed. Which is exactly what it was, until this last update.

Guilty!

I too have a TDK X 12. I've yet to upgrade from the bundled Nero 5.0.3.5. However, I have been meaning to update this for a while.

You said you had problems with your TDK x 12. Has anyone else tried to update to ver 5.5.2.3 with a TDK x 12? Please let me know what you recommend.

If I do download an update, such as nero5523.exe, do I just run it and this will auto-update my current nero version?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

*****DO NOT UPDATE YOUR NERO PROGRAM IF YOU HAVE A TDK VELOCD 12X BURNER...IT WILL NOT WORK*****

I just tried it a few times and it will not let you use the program with the TDK burner.

Anyone know what the program nerocheck.exe does? I've noticed that it runs when I boot up my W2k system.

<<Some players couldn't properly forward/reverse between tracks >>

Well, I have a TDK 12x and I have a player that will not properly forward between tracks. Most players work fine, but my CD in my truck (the most important to me) is the one acting up.

I'll be watching for an update for the TDK that works.....

14fritz- Did you un-install the old version and then install the new version or just install 5.5.2.3 as an upgrade?

Still only semi-functional Windows 2000 support by the looks of things. :(

LuNoTick!!!

I know there's plenty who love Plextor out there, but is TDK really so bad? I've not had any real problems with my drive, have you? Since I switched my cdr to it's own controller i've not had a single coaster. Who else is happy/unhappy with their TDK?

By the way, as a TDK owner I can't upgrade to 5.523, but can I upgrade to, say, 5.20, or something? or is 5.5.23 the latest revision???
