I was wondering if anyone could explain the difference between the retail nero ultra edition and the oem versions that you can buy cheaply on the internet. Is there any features included in the retail version that make it worth paying the premium for? thanks, Rob

Also, Nero OEM CD-ROM's may be set up to only work with one model of burner, and/or the license may only be valid if purchased with a burner (if you care). If you have a CD-RW, and then you get a DVD-RW, and you have the type of Nero OEM that's tied to just one or the other, then you're going to be :|.

Also, retail would qualify you for upgrade rebates if you keep your receipts and stuff.

You can only do 2 channel encoding w/ reencode.

I bought Nero 6 Ultra Ed via download, and regret it.

It comes with a whole bumdle of things that duplicate features already native to Windows XP , a media player, a file manager, other stuff you don't need.

I don't think you can burn ISOs with the cheap OEM Nero Express; I think you need the Nero Burining ROM, in the big Nero package.

There are cheaper alternatives I wish I'd known about back then, like:

MagicISO.

I bought Nero 6 Ultra about one week too soon to qualify for their free upgrade from v. 6 to v. 7 . . .Argh!
