Nero taking too much resources with my burn proof burner!!

It was never a problem before until I formated and updated to the latest Nero. Computer just chugs when burning. So much that, I have to leave the comptuer alone because it's so slow! Still burns the normal 7mins but all the resources seemed to be eaten up now by nero. Hmm... is there anything I missed?

Running Win XP
GA-8SRX
1.6A @ 2.1GHz
512MB DDR
IBM 45gb 7200rpm
Nero 5.5.9.0

I notice it more when burning audio CDs.

Any ideas to bring it back up to speed!??

Most likely your burner is in PIO mode.

Okay, I selected DMA if available in Device Manager and reset. The next day I still have the same slow downs. I check device and DMA if available is still selected but it says it's still running on PIO. Anybody know whats up? It was running DMA before the format (Liteon 12x10x32). I think I'll try resetting again.

Dang it! It selected and a reseted, but it still says PIO mode! AHHH!
