I hate Nero, it has become more quirky with me than my grandmother, and the Nero Express only option on the newest update drove the last nail in the coffin for me. Any other burning software out there to choose from?

Is that something useable for recording music cds and whatnot though?

not really. It is for copying games and such.

I find nero works great on my machine. I hate nero express so I don't use it, just regular nero.

Try uninstalling nero and delete its folder. Then re-install it using the newest version. Not buggy in the least.

Easy CD Creator is crap. It creates stability problems on any system I have installed it.

To make music CDs or to rip mp3's I use musicmatch jukebox.

Take a good look at the new ECDC 6 Platinum - it really is great in the music end - has Cool Edit built in. Also - for VCD work look at WinOnCD. This has only recently been made available in the USA - it has done very well in Europe - also by Roxio - but the German parent.

A vote for WinOnCD even though the software seems to get buggier with every new version. 3.8PE was solid. Even though 6.0 is out, version 5 was just made available to the US. WinOnCD is just an all around package that will do most everything you need. The SVCD it creates doesn't seem to be valid which sucks.

Purchase a full Nero Serial/Key # or alternatively

Got Nero with my Lite-On, just got the latest update and it seems to be working cool for now. I'll give WinOnCD and the other suggestions a try.
