Nero or Alcohol 120%?!

Which burning software?

Nero is like a $100 bucks which really sucks!!! Plus you gotta buy the damn updates when they come out for example going from 6 to 7 but as for Alcohol only $52 bucks and free lifetime updates. What do you all recommend?

Nero and A120 are meant for different purposes; Nero for general CD/DVD authoring, and A120 for backups and virtual device mounting.

There are plenty of free or cheap burning programs available like CD Burner XP, Deepburner, or ONES.

Cool, thanks for the quick reply...

What is the difference between Nero and CloneCD then?

Also what would you recomment out of the three: CD Burner XP Pro, DeepBurner and ONES?

Nero is still the best overall burning solution out there.

It's pretty cheap too if you look around.

For selected types of burning, the freeware appz aren't bad, but overall, i couldn't live w/o Nero personally.

So you pay every year for the new updates?

no, all same edition updates (like from 6.0.0.0 to 6.6.0.1 etc) are free. going from version 6 to 7 however, is not free and can be upgraded for a fee.

you can find nero 7 ultra edition for less than 50 bucks nowadays (i see ads with it sometimes and the in-store deals at frys). but personally, nero 7 is so bloated, that one person on the msfn.org forums made a nero 7 "lite" edition, which gets rid of most of the bloat.
