Another consumer multimedia application can now use GeForce GPUs to speed up video encoding. Nero has released an update for Move it that brings CUDA support to the multimedia mobility software.

How good is it? I tried Badaboom on 9400m and it was slower than my Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz. Does this one use both the CPU and GPU so we get double speeds?

You'll be waiting, probably forever. the x264 guys looked at CUDA and decided not to do it.

CUDA isn't the last venture into gpgpu. it's the first. if i have to encode on larrabee, i will.

The update is now available. That was just an announcement at Cebit.

Now, when there is an argument ATi versus NVidia, besides these:

you can also add the Nero CUDA acceleration. Nvidia is just gaining more and more ground, isn't it? 😉
