I've come across a curious problem with Nero Burning ROM on Win2k SP1 and my Yamaha 8424S.

If I record onto a CDRW, once I exit Nero, the CD-RW drive will become unresponsive, and get an 'incorrect function' error message if I try to access it. I need to shut down and restart for the drive to work correctly again. The disc is fine.

I think this is a new problem with Service Pack 1, I never noticed it before I upgraded.

It does not happen with CDRWin, or EZCD Creator - I've also found it to happen with a number of versions of Nero 5.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

I've got the same problem. It seems it only happns if let's say I just finished compiling what files I want to burn, I insert a blank CD and immediately try to hit the icon to start burning. I've never gotten a chance to try it any other way because it seems I always forget and do the same thing. :)

Oh yeah, it's with a Plextor 12/4/32, and Win2k w/o SP.

I've just found a 'guaranteed' method of repeating this problem on my system with Nero 5.0.2.4 and have fired off an e-mail to Ahead software Technical support.

If this works for you, then I'd be grateful, if other people could possibly send in a similar report - hopefully, if enough people write to them, they'll do something about it :)

Here goes:
Insert a CD-RW disc into the writer, erasing if necessary.
Start a 'mixed-mode' CD from nero
Add a single audio track, and a data file.
In the 'burn' dialog box, un-select 'Disc-at-once'
Burn.
Re-insert the CD into the writer - attempt to access it from explorer.
