hmm.... i have this MicroAdvantage 52x cdrw. bought it from office max for like $10 after $40 in rebates.

anyways today i go to burn the rare CD, but i forgot to click "close CD before finishing" in NERO. so i hit cancel and nero locks up. so i reboot. and now my cdrw doesnt read or write cds. wtf. it had been reading cds fine earlier. and i made a cd about a week ago as well.

what the hell. anyone have any clue how to fix it. it still detects it and shows up in device manager. but the drive doesnt actually read anything now.

Can you hear a CD spin up when you insert one? Does a audio or data cd show up in explorer when inserted? My lite-on 40x just did this recently out of the blue. Motor is dead.

i see no data in explorer. i cant hear it even spin up. what a piece of crap.

yes i turned off my computer. i have not uninstalled nero.... i'm figuring i could read CDs in windows explorer with nero installed though.

Tried the drive in another computer? Nero is software, CDRW is hardware and so the software can't physcially damage it.

1. Try it another another computer
2. If that doesn't work, try flashing it, maybe it got corrupted

It's probalby just a coincidence that you were trying to cancel at the same time that Nero was trying to stop. It happens. I really don't see any way that Nero could harm your CDRW Hardware?

oooo k... it is dead like so dead.
