Nero Keeps Restarting My Computer

Hello - I am using Nero Ultra 6.6 - I just purchased the downloadeable serial number and I haven't been able to use anything from the package.

Every time I try to open 'most' of the applications; my computer suddenly restarts without warning or any sort of error message. This happens with all the applications that matter, i.e. I can't capture video, try to copy/create a CD/DVD, etc. About the only applications that will open are the backup application and the music/video viewer.

For example: I try to open Vision Express from the start menu -> as soon as I click the link and I get the hourglass on the mouse -> my computer restarts. Same thing happens when choosing from the SmartStart screen or anywhere else. And same happens with most all the other applications.

I have uninstalled/re-installed multiple times. I have all updated drivers for everthing. There's hardly anything else on my computer except Windows XP Professional SP2 stuff and games.

I have checked their website, and frankly is sucks. The FAQ's are worthless, there's no Forums, and I'm sick of waiting for a customer service reply to my report (over a day now).

So, any ideas to fix this?

Also, If this isn't corrected and I ask for a refund; any ideas on similiar suites for me to get? How about the Roxio suite?

Thanks :)

Try getting a freeware solution off the web first, and try to install/use it. My first suspect is that any part of Nero that is trying to use your burner is having problems, so it might be your burner itself. Maybe when Nero tries to access it?

Now, I've never heard of this happening, but that was my first thought.

DeepBurner, there is a free version.

I dunno, I could be way off.

well, sounds like it's at least worth me trying to disable my burner and then seeing if that makes a difference. I'll try that.

Yeah; for once, I'm actually willing to pay for a commercial suite, LOL. But I'll keep this one in mind, thanks!

I think I fixed it, after spending HOURS searching the internet, I found the suggestion to download Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition - which I did and now things work.

I have no idea what this even does, let alone how this fixes this. How stupid.

anyway, I'm posting in case it helps anyone else.
