Nero is stealing my resources.

I have a P4 2.2a at 2.5GHZ with 512 samsung pc 2700 ram and using a P4B533 mobo and the burner

TDK 24X CDRW:B

When i burn from cd to cd the buffer underrun no only decreases and increases numerous times it takes other programs long to load as well during burning.

Nero is burning at " 2 Data (Mode 2) " and using DMA 2 (from WIN XP Device Manager) mode i also checked the bios to verify and the cdrw is running at

PIO 4 and DMA 2.

Does anyone have any ideas of what i can do

Run the task manager, and see what Nero's up to. I believe by default, it likes to eat a lot of memory.

Yep, I've seen it too. I tested the latest Nero against EZCD Creator 6, and unfortunately EZCD used a LOT less system resources....hence, it ended up being the faster burning software.

I'm still using Nero 5.0... I just wish I could make it use more than 80 MB of RAM for a buffer.

Then you definately need to upgrade because mine was utilizing over 300mb of ram while burning a cd.

I have this problem too, but with a 400mhz celeron. 😛

I can burn/copy easily at 24x though. Anything above that eats the buffer like crazy.

I had this problem. What I did is to put my hd on a pci ide controller, and my burner and DVD on a separate ide channel. So all devices are masters on their respective channels. Cleared the problem right up.

Don't ask me why though.
