I was buring a cd with nero and it crashed win xp and I restarted win xp wouldn't reonginze my seoncd hdd as ntfs, just as some format called raw. I've tried to use parition magic to fix the parition table but no luck and I've tired to use ez recovery to recover my files before reformatting but that was useless.

I installed disk probe that came with winxp but didn't know how to use it ... I'm just down to losing my data and reformatting the hard drive.

Anybody have any ideas what else I could do?

Have you tried XP's built in System Restore? It sets your system back (via a calendar) to a previous state, so it should restore your previous settings. Choose the day before the crash when restoring.

Here's how to use it:

Additionally, you can check the registry key in the following knowledge base article. It frequently is the cause of IDE issues. Even though this refers to Adaptec software, other software like Nero puts entries in this key referenced. You're concerned with the "Method One" process...
