Nero and burning VCDs

I recently got a new burner (Plextor 12x10x32Scsi internal) and I installed Nero 5.5 but when trying to record an MPG file to VCD (the mpg file is VCD 2.0 compliant ), I get a bunch of screeches and a green screen, anyone know why this happens? I never had a problem with Nero before.....Is it a bad installation of Nero? Any info would be great.
