Most of the posts I have reviewed strongly favor sticking with v6 instead of upgrading,
however most of those posts were made about a year ago. Has v7 matured enough to
recommend now or should I still stay away?

I never had any problems with Nero 7,I'm even using it now in Vista x64,however its only worth upgrading IMHO if there are features you need over Nero 6.

Nero 7 is very bloated in size and gimmickry .. and it's audio encoding of cd's has
had some issues which may not have been resolved, but which worked fine in Nero 6.x
As to Vista, Nero 6 may not work, so if you are going to Vista or a 64 bit os, then you
may have to use Nero 7 or maybe something like Roxio Media Creator (latest version)
which is not too bad. There are other programs out there that can do CD / DVD burning
some less expensive, some very easy to use.

Yesterday I was doing stuff with Nero 7 Ultra Edition I don't see any problems. It is not too bloast because i installed some of Nero apps that I find worth to use during installation
