Anybody that can figure this one out deserves a
and a big
Here is the deal:
I had Windows XP w/ SP 1a installed with Nero 6.3.1.20 already installed.
I then installed SP2. Problem was 75% of the time that I started, restarted, or accessed my CD-burner drive and DVD burner would freeze my PC. I took out both CD/DVD drives, used one at a time, switched them between being slave/master/CS. It still froze.
I then thought maybe I just need a clean install of Windows XP SP1a and then SP2. I had no problems what so ever even after installing all my programs and apps. That was until I tried to install Nero again.
There was a message that popped up that said that SP2 had a known compatibilty problem with this version of Nero. I continued because on Nero's website it stated the the 6.3.1.20 version fixed the SP2 problem.
Restarted my computer and the at the Windows login screen it froze again. Restarted several times and finally was able to get past the login screen and into Windows. I put in a CD, and it froze. Restarted and uninstalled Nero, and it there has not been one crash or freeze since then (about a month).
I am able to burn CD's using Music Match, Sonic Record Now, and the built in Windows burner with no problems.
I have looked at every article I have been able to find, but I still can't find out why Nero is causing me so many problems. Did anybody here have this problem, or what could I be doing wrong?
My specs:
P4 2.6 HT
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro-G
512 DDR ram
Samsung CD-R/RW SW-248F (latest official firmware)
Memorex DVD +/-RW True 8x (latest official firmware)
FX 5900 AGP card
Soundblaster series card
And before someone comes in here and says it, it is not my power supply
