Nero 6.0 and NEC 2510A cannot write CDR

Aloha,

I cannot burn a cd using Nero 6.0 and my new NEC 2510A (authentic). I can burn DVD's fine using DVD shrink (nero engine I believe). I can burn cd's using an older version of Roxio CD creator. I actually have two NEC's so I swapped it out and they both show the same symptoms so I do not believe that it is the drive itself. Does anyone know of any incompatibilities?

You need to change your Drive. I've only used Nero Express to Burn with, so if you are using something else the settings maybe different. Anyway, when you firt start Nero Express the first Window has the Drive listed ontop. If you click to Open the dropdown list, there'll be a variety of selctions to choose from, select the one with your Drives' name and CD(it should be DVD right now) in it. You should now be able to Burn a CD.

I've got the full version of Nero 6.0 (Nero 6.0 Ultra) and it works perfect with my 2510a. Have you updated Nero to the latest version? Also, you are aware that when you open Nero Burnign ROM, and go to File>New..., there is a toggle selection at the top left corner that let's you change from DVD burning to CD burning, right? You should be able to hit the drop down arrow and choose CD (for CD brurning).

Hey thanks guys. I found the problem. I installed this drive into a Dell Dimension 4600 as a secondary slave. The ide secondary slave was disabled. Of course the odd thing is that the drive was recognized and performed normally except for writing cds. After I enabled the drive in bios it wrote fine. I'm building this for someone. I would tend to stay away from big box computer manufacturers. I'm finding out that their computers do not like to be upgraded.
