I've got Nero 5.5 that came with my Yamaha CRW-F1 Drive and I recently got a new Sony DVD Burner. The Nero that came with my Yamaha burner only works with the Yamaha writer. Is there anyway to unlock it so I can use it with my Sony DVD Burner?

As far as I know, no. Certain OEM versions of Nero work only with the drives they're bundled with. You can pick up a "universal" OEM copy for about $15 if you shop around.

ditto. My Nero 5 only works with the cendyne drive that it came with. This is how the drive manufacturer's get the licenses so cheap. It helps ensure the folks at Nero that the software won't be passed around. Therefore, they are willing to let it go so cheap. Just think of it this way, if the Nero that came with your drive worked for all drives, you probably would have paid $10-$15 more for the drive itself......

I love Nero. That's why I just decided to spring for the online version. My initial version only worked with my Creative burner. I was bummed and decided to just buy it, so no matter what burner I get I can use Nero.
