I know this problem has been discussed before but I never really found a clear answer to this. I know about the ASPI layer...how you have to install them manually. Well...I have an MSI K7T PRO2-A and I'm currently using a Promise Ultra100 ATA controller which has my two harddrives and my CD-burner on it. If I install win2000 professional and use the onboard IDE controllers, NERO will not burn. I can only burn if the CD-RW and the harddrives are on the same controller ...I can't have the CD-RW on the onboard IDE controller and leave the harddrives on the promise. I know this seems insignificant since I can get things to work, but I expected the new board to handle all this without any problems. Nero version is 5.0....that came with my CD-RW. I aslo want to know what creates bad sectors on harddrives....I have about 2MB of bad sectors on my 30 gig and I'm wondering what caused this because in my 9 yrs of computing I have never had a bad sector come up except for when my 6.4 gig a few years back crashed. ANy help would be greatly appreciated....

I wonder if your problem might be related to the use of VIA's new 4.28 4-in-1 drivers. If you installed those, they might be causing the problem. With my Win2k setup and my MIS K7T Pro2 board, I had to go back to the 4.25a IDE drivers. This is a problem with KT133 boards in general I believe. On a side note, I never had to install any kind of ASPI layer with my Win2K setup.
