nerdy or manly?

there is such a thin line between nerdiness and manliness.. let's take for instance video games.

my plans for tonight: go to friends house, eat junk food, play lots of Halo and FIFA..

would one consider this simply a "guy thing" or a nerdy thing?

something to ponder.

I think pondering this question is nerdy.

You are a man if you are doing this to get away from your girlfriend for the night or something.

You are a nerd if this is all you do and is possibly all that you will ever do.

i am gonna buy a video game console!

but hanging out and playing video games, hmmm, that's a tricky one. it sounds like fun to me, and i'm a chix0r. then again, i enjoy doing manly things :lips:

i would call it a guy thing...

Now if you said "Going to a friend's house to eat junkfood and complile the linux kernel", that might be nerdy

I agree with ducci, you're only a nerd if that makes up your entire social life. I do nerdy stuff like that and worse occasionally with one group of friends, but I usually hang out on the weekends with another group where I'm the only one who is into computers...

Guy thing. Nerds don't have friends, and if they did, the firends sure wouldn't have houses that they could go to.

How true is that? I don't know of any nerdy guys that have houses that Ive ever seen. I know of a guy who always goes to our LAN parties and brings flashing christmas lights and strobe lights though. He's got terets.

Guy thing: Play games with other guys at friend's house on Saturday night.

Nerd thing: Play games with other guys online at own house on Saturday night.

Doing that on a Tuesday night it would be a guy thing. Doing it on a weekend when you should be out with your girlfriend (or more likely out looking for a girlfriend) makes it a nerdy thing.

Agreed. If you were playing CS or Sims Online from your house that would be much worse.
