My mom brought home some monstrosity of a printer she found at Costco. I saw it was an HP Officejet that, copies, faxes, prints, sexual favors, etc. My initial reaction was "oh god no!" I am now embarking on the long weird setup process.

I've always feared that the more you try to cram into one machine the more that can go wrong and the worse it will do at each of those functions. I also don't like how it tells me things in full sentences on the little screen. I much prefer the olden days of "PC load letter" type errors. Anyone else have similar fears with all in one machines or am I just crazy?

We had an MFD back at my family home for a while, but eventually switched back to separate devices. The printer part broke and it was too expensive to ship to the repair place, so we had a separate printer with it for a long time anyway. Once that happened no one else in the family could figure how to make copies any more, though. So when you have parents around, an MFD may be the only way to make it fully usable for them.

My buddy bought one of those dell dinosaur things and he soon became depressed. Rather than do the right thing and ask someone who fcking KNOWS he'd rather roll the dice.

Check out the prices on dell all-in-one ink.

I love my epson yay!

Dell printer = rebadged Lexmark = crap

Canon FTW

I use my Brother monochrome laser printer. Reliable, fairly well priced, and it seems like it will last forever.
