A couple of months ago my nephew got into an argument with his rabbi at their Jewish school. The rabbi was telling him the story of Moses and how he parted the Red Sea so that the Jews could escape from Egypt. Anyways, he told the rabbi "You know, I've been on this earth for ten years and I've never seen anything like this." The rabbi proceeded to tell him how this was an act of G-d, etc... The rabbi may have said some other things. He then told the rabbi to "Go fuck yourself".

To be honest, he's like his father. He's a very good guy and soft-spoken, but you don't want to get on his bad side. I remember one time he and I were at the grocery store and he was about to pay but was on the phone talking. The lady behind us made a terse statement and he proceeded to call her many names, including wise and beautiful woman.

After seeing how the OP is talking to everyone, I can see how his little nephew is related.

Again, his parents are decent folks. But the kid has a mind of his own. If you want to fault his parents for everything he knows and says go ahead...
It would appear that they haven't done a great job of passing that decency onto their kid...

Great he's thinking for himself and all, but why did he have to act like a little ass?
He is not thinking for himself. He did not come up with that phrase on his own.
Well I meant it kinda tongue-in-cheek. It's obvious that filling his head up with stuff like that would set him at odds with his teachers. Why would anyone do that? All it does is make his life harder without him even fully understanding why.
The part I don't understand is that his parent (or someone) had to pay for him to go to that school. Why send him there if that's how they feel? Unless its a split parent situation and one parent is against the church and one is for?
I just hate seeing kids spew hate that early. It really says something for the situation they are growing up in.
I think he was trying to understand something and the teacher kept telling him stories. His parents are nice people and they make him read a lot. I guess he saw BS and called it for what it was.
I guess the lesson that needs to be taught is that of respecting your elders. It seems like his parents are doing a fine job of that.
I wonder where your nephew will be in 5 years. Juvenile hall?
Elders feeding him bullshit is not acceptable (to him, apparently).

whoah whoah whoah.... he's parents are sending him to a Jewish school, so this is obviously what his parents want him to lean and want him to believe.
A 10yr old has NO PLACE to tell an elder, let alone a teacher to "Go fuck themselves" no matter what the teacher is telling them. Hell a 24yr old in a college lecture hall doesn't have the right.

I can't tell who's the smartest in that family. The nephew, his parents (Yale, Harvard; NYU, Harvard), or the OP (Princeton, Columbia).

No one really should tell another to go fuck themselves. Especially when the other person is being nice.
I want this kids ass to be black and blue by the time his parents are done with him. He needs to learn some serious manors. I never dared to say that to anyone who was much older than me. (I never really said anything like that to people anyway)

So impertinence justifies child abuse?

So genius WHY THE FUCK IS HE IN A JEWISH SCHOOL THEN?
nuturing the inner douchebag contrarian is not the best way to raise an analytical free thinking independant mind. It's more likely to create an oucast emo with a suicide pact with his bulimic girlfriend...Originally posted by: Dari

I call BS on that. Do you have kids? I know when my son was 10 years old, the teacher could have told him that the sky was red and that peas came from cows and he wouldn't have said a word. Let alone telling the teacher to go fuck himself.
The kid is innocent. His parents or whoever taught him to act like that are douches. End of story.
You don't even know his parents, asshole. Like I said, he's a voracious reader and saw BS and called it. His parents were shocked but I am happy because he has a sharp mind and he won't believe everything you tell him, unlike your kids.
