Hi good people,

I'm building a computer for my nephew who just graduated with his BS in EECS and will be starting a new job soon. Since much of his salary initially will go towards his new place, I wanted to give/build him a brand new gaming PC. He mostly plays games like mass effect, assassins creed, Star Wars Battlefront, and so on. He owns a 4K G-Sync monitor, so I want to build him something that will allow him to take full (as much as possible) advantage of that panel. Finally, he's a huge RGB / tempered glass fanatic....

Let me know what you think of this build. I can spend ~$2K.

I got extra fans to put two exhaust at the top and one exhaust at the rear.

Thanks.

That build should just do fine for 4K gaming.

Looks decent, maybe not the exact parts I would choose, but none of them are bad. I would definitely consider getting a different cooler, that thing is not worth $150. If you want to stick to an AIO, maybe consider an H80? Even a hyper 212 would be fine for that chip, and thats a $30 cooler. Ive run H212's in unlocked I5's and I7's before and temps were always within spec even with healthy overclocks/volts, though I have no experience with a chip as new as a 7700K.

The only thing I would change is getting a Seasonic Prime Gold PSU instead. It's got a 12 year warranty rather than 5 years.

That system is going to be a beast :)
