well the one thing thats keeping me from buying a neopower right now is that the cables are not sleeved. i'm curious as to if sleeving the cables would actually void the warranty. i figure that if you needed to send in the psu they wouldn't necessarily ask for the cables... would they? they may just replace the psu unit.

I think opening the PSU enoclosure and breaking the seal voids the warranty, maybe external mods done are ok but it would not hurt to call Antec just to be on the safe side.

i ended up buying it, then reading hte manual. from what ive seen they dont have a problem warranty wise if you actually cut their cables (shows a diagram of how to remove extra leads). they said to cut and tape lol

well from what i can tell im not even touching the acutal psu itself, but a completely separate object htat they even give instructions on how to cut and add/remove pins to... sleeving is just more icing on the cake i suppose

I picked up mine for $50 yesterday and promptly sleeved it. I'm using it right now. I guess as long as you don't tear the sticker sealing the PSU itself, you're OK.

Didn't rma it, took it back to fry's. And of course they didn't have another one. Ended up with some strange looking thing that looks like it fell off the mother ship, all sorts of lights and uv sleeving. Stupidest looking thing I've ever seen. But I needed a psu.

You might want to do a little research to see what the consensus about a product is before you spread FUD. Antec has built a pretty good reputation for building quality products, and their power supplies have been no exception. Just because you had a single bad experience doesn't mean there's anything wrong with their product. Every once in a while there's going to be a bad one, just accept it and stop trying to make it sound like Antec's product is bad.

I personally have been using a Neopower since August of 2004, and its been nothing but great for me. I've run an overclockd 754 system with a 6800GT @ Ultra speeds, and then later an overclocked 939 system with an X850XT PE (and even had a 6800GT in there along with the X850 at one point), and I've had no problems. I will be SLIing two 6800GTs here in the next week and I'm not worried at all. I'm not sure how well it'll fair since it has dual 12V rails, which has been an issue with SLI (not enough amps to power the cards and other components), but other than doing something like that, this power supply should be able to handle most anything.

Anything that is reversible should be OK under warranty. Just reverse it before returning. I don't know if they bother to repair the returns or not. From the sound of it, they don't.

Thinking of doing the same thing to mine. I don't think it would affect the warranty. I was wondering if you could slide the sleeving over the psu connector end instead of having to remove all the molex connectors?

They have wrap-on sleeving now or you can use wire-loom (auto parts stores). Neither of those require you to remove the connectors.

I was thinking of using this...

Chrome Expandable Sleeving

The modular PSU connectors are about 0.6"x0.5" compared to the molex connector's 1" width. Surely the 1/4" sleeves would expand to 1/2". Dunno about the heatshrink. I can't find any specifications stating how wide this stuff expands. But if it does work there would be no need to remove the molex connectors. The only wires that aren't modular are the main connector (which is already sleeved) and the P4 connector. Anyone tried this?

Only thing that worries me about the chrome sleeves is this warning on Xoxide...

Note: Chrome wire sleeving is conductive! Please use care not to short any exposed computer components. This item can be returned ONLY if the product is deemed defective.

First, I have no idea what FUD might be, and second, wtf are you talking about? I said my psu died after 6 hours, thats a fact. I didn't say that Antec products stink, I didn't say they were poorley made, I didn't say I would no longer use Antec products. I said my Antec psu died after 6 hours, and thats why the warranty is important. If fry's had any in stock, I would have replaced it with the exact same psu, to go along with my ANTEC P160 case and ANTEC fans.
Get over it fanboy.
