Got the first disc from Netflix and watched it. Thought it was good, but you can't always base that on the first disc. So should I rent the rest of it?

Also, If I do turn out to like it, I heard that there was a spacific order to watch the stuff in, something like Series->Death and Rebirth->EoE (or something like that), right?

Thanks, also any other Anime stuff to see would be nice (being a seasoned anime n00b).

I'm a seasoned n00b.

Anime I've seen:
Ghost in the Shell (of corse)
Akira (of corse)
Coboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo (got the final disc today :D, saw how that ended too)
Ghost in the Shell SAC
Ghost in the Shell SAC 2nd Gig (in the process of watching)
Samurai X

I consider the greatest anime that I've seen to be Ghost in the Shell (pick any one of them, there all great, including the series).

You can get Champloo from netflix, I would recommend it. Evangelion is too damn confusing, and the remake of Appleseed has pretty good cg. You can also download Bleach or Naturo fansubbed torrents like every other anime nut on the planet.

I second the recommendation for Appleseed. Just make sure you get the newer version.

RahXephon - NeonGE done right, with a much less whiny and sullen lead.
Trigun - good SF western
Cowboy Bebop - space cowby kung fu bounty hunter
Kino's Journey - if you're feeling at least pseudo-intellectual
Noir - if you liked Leon: The Professional and the movie version of La Femme Nikita
Haibane-Renmei - if you have a softer side

Tell me what type of anime, or what type of themes you are into. Then I'll make recommendations.

Noir: Female assassins. Good viewing.

I would also recommend the Gundam Seed series. They're easy to follow, and entertaining. Irresponsible Captain Tylor is good as well...

Has ANYONE ever seen the anime "Black Heaven"? I saw it once and it RULED, and I need to find it again!

You can't really judge NGE from the first episode. If you're into anime you're probably into RPGs, so think of what a game is like the first hour and what it's like by the time you finish it.
Chances are you haven't played Xenogears, but if you have you know how it goes from almost mind-numbingly simple to mind-fvcking complicated and emotional.
NGE isn't nearly on the same level as Xenogears, though.

Neon Eva huh, hehehe well good luck with that one make sure you watch them all, actually skip the last episode and watch the movies to finish it. Then rewatch the movies with the comentary, IT WILL HELP A LOT. Takes some of the "What just happened, My head why does it hert like this" away.

Oh yea DO NOT search for any topic that I posted about Neon Eva either cause I ruined the ending in my subject line. Have fun.

cowboy bebop is a good series to watch all the way through, good character development. Evengelion gets confusing at the end but it's still pretty badass. Samurai champloo is good but it has its slow points. Naruto is good too but beware the crappy dubbing on cartoon network. get the fansubs if you can.

The very last 2 episodes are ridiculous and a chore to get thru. I can't imagine what the writers were thinking. As I remember, they're basically episodes about what the hero is thinking and his conscience or whatever. LAME. That's how the 'series' ended, with no ending really. It's like they just throw in these last 2 episodes of nowhere and it's done.

I never watched death and rebirth as almost all of it is just clips from the series. Lame. THe END movie was actually pretty good for the first half. Then the 2nd half got all philosphical again, like the last 2 episodes.

The episodes before that were awesome though.

I also LOVED Beserk and Hellsing was decent.

Good list  My exposure is almost identical (only partway through Champloo and GitS: 2nd Gig), also suggest Hellsing.

Personally, if Appleseed had more funding from a respective entertainment company like Sony, it would have hit theaters across America.

I noticed that the way the computer animation/drawing was done was very groundbreaking, and I'm sure the company's rivals were at 'aw' to see such stunning visuals. Very clear sound and crisp imagery. But like I said, the movie could have done so much better, it would have wiped Spirited Away out of the water (assuming if it would have hit theaters), though the target markets for both Anime's were slightly different.

Eva, I liked up until during the middle of the story, but storyline sidetracked so much with their drama-intevened lives that you wouldn't think the world could in no way have possibly been saved by a bunch of party animal snobs and crooked political, corporate leaders. Overall, Eva I'm sure made a lot of money in sales and in getting a ton of attention from Anime lovers.

Cowboy Bebop, Kenshin, and Trigun are classics.

I also liked Noir, Berserk, Scryed, and Outlaw Star, though I'm not sure of their availability on Netflix.

Inuyasha starts out very fast (and good), as if it was just a standard 26 episode series, but starts to get very stale as it gets drawn out over multiple seasons.
