Goddammit! If I hear the term neocon one more time, I'm going to go crazy! I know we've been accused of using the term "liberal", but you guys throw around this neocon term, as if every conservative republican was some militant wacko. Stop it!

This thread is just too rich. People who scream liberal at the top of their lungs every five words complain about the word neocon. Awww too bad.

Yeah, just like the people who bask in having a monopoly over the media complain about one conservative news source.

But to retaliate against being called a liberal, call us the opposite: conservative. Neocon is starting to sound gay. It doesn't get under my skin, it just makes you libs sound childish. I suggested you stop for your own good, as it ruins your credibility. Just like tin foil hats and kool-aid.

[Yes, I used "gay" as a homosexual euphamism to mean "annoying and stupid". If your PC little mind doesn't like it, too bad.]

Bush's advisors are overwhelmingly Neocon. This is kinda funny, since I think that he's not one, neccessarily.

But alot of his policies are, and so those who support his policies are in effect supporting neocon policies. Easy to be painted with the same brush when you are advocating their ideas.

I think what you are really upset about is the fact that the lefties have turned it into a kind of insult. It's a valid policy stance, but somehow the lefties have turned the word into something evil.

It's a neat trick, I wonder where they learned it.

Oh wait, maybe they stole the trick from the right when they did the same thing to the word "liberal."

Go ahead, I've called many people in P/N liberal. Which would justify calling me a conservative. "Liberal" is not a contrived childish term used to imply insult. It's a label for people who support the democrat agenda.

You've really been in a cave all your life, that you've never heard the accusation that most of the media is liberally biased?

Unfortunately as Bush became a neocon, so has the right in general. We have very few true conservatives around here that will stand up and be critical of the administration. Say liberal all you want it's a very positive word if you can read a dictionary.

Crap. I must've been sleeping, I never heard anyone call "New Rule!". What if I call you 'whiner', what name are you justified in calling me? How 'bout if I call you 'boring', what do you get to call me?

And Neocon is a term used to describe those who support Neoconservative policies. The Neocons came up with the term. The "libs" have just exproriated it.

It's not an insult in and of itself. Just like "liberal" can be snorted out derisively, so can "Neocon."

They are both accurate terms.

Accept the insults as complements, they are just identifying your policies.

If you were called this when you were supporting a more traditional conservative platform, then you can correct the ignorant lib and call him a moron.

OK, you morons misread my post (and my apologies for letting you drag me into the "insult" argument"). It's not about hurting my feelings. Internet nerds can call me anything, and I don't pay any mind to it. It's more about sounding stupid.

Then you best use it properly. The left here seems to think that Neo-con is a catch-all for anyone who supports Bush or Conservatism. I suggest you inform them of the word's meaning:)

Then you admit that the word liberal is a compliment and start using it as such. Being open-minded is a good thing.

I have no problem calling liberals - liberals. The problem is that many liberals don't seem to like the term. There was a survey done a while back about this.
I'm a proud Conservative and have respect for those liberals who proudly accept the term - too bad they are few and far between. But just because I may respect them actually having the guts to admit they are liberals - doesn't mean that I endorse or encourage that sort of ideology.:D

Honestly, I think both terms are kinda silly, so I'll pledge to myself to stop using them.

I think it's only fair that those who are whining about being unfairly called 'neocon' be PM'ed whenever a neoc...er, a Republican calls anyone who criticizes this administration a 'liberal'.
