NEO2-FIR and Venice 3000+

Recently gave my old board (MSI NEO2-FIR socket 939) to a friend for his first build. He's got the computer assembled, but it won't post. I was stumped until I checked MSI's site for latest BIOS, and saw that the latest added support for dual-core and "Revision E" chips. Is the Venice core a revision E chip? And how would he go about flashing the bios if he can't post? He lives about 1000 miles from me, so its not as if i can quickly swap out the cpu and flash it for him. (i have a winnie) Any ideas? Thanx!
 
Yes, Venice, San Diego, Toledo, and Manchester are all Rev. E chips. They need the latest bios or the PC will not post. There are 2 things you can do:

1) Have your friend call MSI, ask them to RMA him a new Bios chip (only if its not soldered down..... not all company?s will do this for you)
or
2) He needs to get a Non-Rev. E 939 to flash the bios with. (Hammer/Winchester/NewCastle)

Yea, I know, it hurts.... this problem messed up my plans to get a 4800+ Toledo, i just decided to wait till socket M2 launches next year. Sorry I can?t be of more help, but there is nothing else that can be done. 🙁
