OK, I just got some new neighbors that moved in downstairs. Now I am married with 2 kids. Now ive been living there for 2 years now. I will admit when I first moved to Dallas, we only had one kid, and we were loud, blasting rap music you guys hate, me and my cousins constantly wrestling; basically we were neighbors from hell. My downstairs neighbor hated us. But as time went on, we got better, and the people downstairs became friends with us. But thats over, now we are quiet, dont have visitors that much anymore. My new neighbors will bang on the ceiling when my lil girls are playing, just running around the apt, being kids. I dont blast music, we arent loud anymore, but they have banged on the ceiling about 5 times and each time is during a time when my kids are playing. The last time i got fed up and just stomped back at them. WTF?????, i know they can tell its kids, and my kids are not up all nite. Bedtime is between 9:30 and 10. Once they banged on a Sat. WTF??? I want to go downstairs and tell them"listen you motherfocker, they are my kids and im not going to site them down all nite on the couch, if they want to run and play, then thats what they will do. But its usually never after 10:00. Am i wrong, or are they just b!tches. Should i go downstairs, wait for them to come up? Any suggestions? My wife is the reason why i havent gone down there? I saw them this morn, and didnt say sh!t.

Well put it this way... if you were down there and they were up in your place with kids running around, your patience would be running pretty low. People have a threshold for annoyance and them banging on the ceiling is the nicest way they know how to tell you to be more considerate. Either way... apartments suck - everyone's gotta deal with each other until you have a place of your own.

Such is the life of an apartment complex dweller. People don't seem to realise that living in an apartment is a compromise: you are sharing a common building with complete strangers. Nobody gets to have it THEIR WAY. Some tennants have to try and be quiet, and some tennants have to put up with a little extra noise. It is a compromise. You need to explain that to them. You need to tell them that you are doing your best to be quiet, and if they expect more, then maybe THEY should reconsider their choice to live in an apartment.

man for some reason that made me crack up.

And btw, you're wrong. You should just go down there and calmly explain to them it's your children and that you'll try to make them keep it down but they're going to have to deal with it.

Yes they do suck, When i first got out of college, my first apt, they must have had 6 kids, because they were constantly running around. I just sucked it up becuase they were kids, and it wasnt all hours of the nite

You should chill out, your kids are making noise and if the people downstairs want some peace and quiet I think it is totally within their rights. Maybe you should get a rug or carpeting that could possibly dampen the sound. Other than that I think you should have some respect for your neighbors and not expect them to just deal with this noise.

If it's a newer apt. complex, there is most likely almost no sound proofing. A friend of mine is in a newly constructed complex and she can tell if it's the guy or the woman below her taking a leak!

What I have found,as I have found my way,is that no one has patience with someone elses children.
