(Neighbors) have launched a formal complaint under antisocial behaviour legislation to force him to cut back the vast leyland cypress trees completely filling the front garden.
Planted in 1991, shortly after the 66-year-old moved into the area, the famously fast-growing trees – better known as leylandii and the source of countless previous neighbourly disputes, some turning violent – are now more than 10 metres tall.

As well as completely obscuring the front of Alvand's home, their higher branches overhang his neighbours' roofs, as well as the pavement.

One neighbour said: "That wall took years to sort out. It's been a nightmare. Now the trees are an eyesore – they block out sunlight and make the street look bad."

Wow, that things huge for being only 19 years old. And why would someone plant one of those things next to a house?

This man is clearly just expressing his non-conformity (at the expense of his neighbors), where is the problem? I thought that this is what not living in an area with a HOA was all about!

I wonder if there is going to be any issues removing it, as far as the water table is concerned.

I want to remove a huge tree at our house, but the company we had take a look at it warned us that our basement might flood after it is removed.

I think that looks hilarious. I hate the idea of telling people how they should decorate their house, but their shit should at least not extend beyond their own property line in any direction. Dude needs to trim a bit more.

Women take note... never let your bush get out of hand and spread to neighboring regions.

It's done that since 1991? That's not a tree, it's a weed with bark!

Yea, Leyland's grow extremely quickly once established. Under really good conditions they can grow like 4-5 feet a year. The biggest issues with them though is they have shallow roots, so they are prone to falling over in high winds. They are also really prone to canker. People plant these things like crazy around here. A lot of people who plant them as cute little 3-5 foot trees don't realize just how quickly they grow, and how fucking massive they get.

That's a pretty nice shrubbery.... I prefer my trees to have a trunk.

The neighborhood I live in has a good number of mature Maples. One of my neighbors has a HUGE maple, a single branch of it shades a good portion of my back yard from afternoon sun. It's like 25 feet from the fence, but, the crown is enourmous!
