neighboring business blowing leaves into my yard

there is a car dealership adjacent to my backyard. Our properties are separated by a fence that is owned by the dealership.

Today, someone at the car dealership had a leaf blower and was blowing all the leaves from his lot through the fence into my property. Now granted I have a couple of large trees near the property line and that may be the cause, I still don't think they should do this. It also blows any other crap onto my side (pop cans, trash, etc).

Is the car dealership in the right doing this? Or should I bag all of the stuff up and put them in the bed of a brand new F-150 tonight????!

UPDATE:
so I thought I would give everyone an update...I decided to keep it cool after this happened and was hoping maybe it was just a lazy employee or something.

But yesterday they blew an enormous amount of leaves into my yard again. Funny thing is it probably would have been quicker if they just bagged them up and threw them away. Instead, they spent over an hour blowing them into my yard.

I called the owner today and he basically told me they aren't his leaves (since there are no trees on his property). He also recommended I cut down all of my trees if I don't want the leaves back.

I kept my cool and was very non-confrontational about it on the phone. Sometimes I really hate being nice to jerks. I am very hesitant to blow the leaves back, as it seems childish and makes me just as bad as him. Any other ideas to settle this like adults?

Get a leaf blower and blow em right back.

I fvcking hate leaf blowers, this is what always happens with them. Whatever happened to rakes and trashbags?

Why bother bagging?

If you're serious, write them a letter telling them that you're going to charge them for the cleanup if they continue.

[edit] nevermind. didnt realize it was your mess. no soup for you.

Leaves in the winter is one of my pet peeves.
Blowing them on someone elses property is just making more work for yourself.

1) Winter weather tends to be windy.. The leaves will eventually just end up back on the originating property at some fvcking point

2) Just bag the damn leaves up and be done with it!

I would seriously bag all of "his" leaves up and dump them in the beds of a few F150's. Do not dump the bags.. dump the actual leaves in the truck beds. :)
And then leave this note:

"We can play this game all winter. I have plenty of time on my hands, asshole!"

Are the majority of the leaves coming from your trees or not? It doesn't take a smart person to figure out the answer to that question. I would call up the manager and explain that if his people pick up the trash first, then he can blow your leaves back onto your property.

If he continues to litter on your property, inform him you'll take action against such activity.

It doesn't matter who's trees the leaves come from. If they fall on your property then it is up to you to deal with it. Blowing the leaves and assorted debris through the fence onto someone elses property is out of line. I would raise major cane with those lazy puds. Lawn service for the old lady next door to me pulls similar stunts all the time. I go right out 10 minutes after they leave and blow all of it right back. Their finished work doesn't look to good after I do that. The owner of the lawn service confronted me once about it. I just told him as long as his flunkeys keep blowing their grass clippings and leaves onto my property I will just blow them back.

I have no trees on my property, but there are leaves there from neighbors' trees.

It irritates me a little, but I deal with it and accept them as being the "neighborhood's" leaves.

Get out your leaf blower and blow them sh!ts back into their lot.

If you do go with this method, at least do it during the day or when there are several customers over there.

i like this idea the most. my old house was on a corner and although we had a bigger property, we had lots of trees and there were tons of leaves. we would just rake them up.

our neighbor was fighting a losing battle. he was right next to the parking lot of the comunity pool. instead of gathering the leaves, every afternoon he would blow all the leaves to the parking lot. the wind would bring it back. he would blow it again.

This is what I would do. I would rake up the leaves they blew over, put them in a bag, and just walk over in the middle of the day in their showroom and DUMP them in the showroom, right on the floor, in front of everyone. And then say "HERE'S YOUR FVCKING LEAVES, ARSEHOLES."

Think I'm kidding? You can't take crap from people or they'll push you around.

And then if the brand of cars they were selling were crappy, like Kia or some cheap American brand, I'd insult their cars.

And then I'd leave....quickly.

Contact your local government and ask them whose responsibility to leaves are. If they're yours since they're from your trees, then rake them up and chuck them but warn the dealership that if they blow any litter into your yard that you will contact the authorities.

If the leaves are supposed to be their problem to clean up, tell the dealer the city said it's his responsibility and if they continue to do it, tell them you will either clean up the leaves for him at $50/hour or call the cops to issue fines.

Have you actually seen the people who blew the leaves onto your property? Or is it just speculation after the fact?

If they are doing it, I'd wait for them to do it again and tell the people who actually operate the leaf blowers to stop.

ok i dont get this arguement. at what point do the leaves dont become your leaves? the next house over, or the next one, or even the next one?

I ll tell ya, i got two silve maples and the leaves are big enough to fall pretty much in my yard. however my yard is filled with leaves from all the other trees in the neighborhood. so if i find a leaf from a honey locus tree in my yard and i know that jim up the street is the only one with a honey locus tree do i march up there pound on his door and demand that he grab a rake and clean my yard? what if one of my silver maple leaves winds up in some guys yard 3 blocks over? is it my problem?

so tell me where is the line drawn??

Blow leaves back
Water leaves with hose
Keep em wet daily so they can't blow it back
