Neighbor trouble (not what you think)

So there's a restaurant upstairs, eh? Guess it's time to start filling the ceiling with week-old roadkill...

And the reason why they put the ramp in front of the door is....?

Because they are probably the type of inconsiderate assholes that really don't care about other people enough and don't care if its someone else's problem.

Well the city should change this. If they are trying to rejuvenate their downtown section this is not the way to do it. You now have a company that will not open because it can't get approved for full occupancy because their fire exit is blocked. The business then shuts down and no one moves in to take it's place because they can't get permits because of the blocked fire escape. So now you have an abandoned building that is an eye sore and not generating any tax revenue.

Or perhaps they just needed a ramp, so they built it, on their property. End of story. I wonder why they would put an emergency exit directly onto someone elses property line in the first place.

Solution, the owner of the neighboring building (not the restaurant) pays to have the ramp modified so that it connects to the door, and make the door open inward. Both parties are happy.

he built the ramp on his own property...the real problem is why the other building has the fire exit right onto an existing property line, I don't see why the new building should have to work around their mistake

I'd have to agree, If someones door opened directly onto my property, I wouldn't like it. Wouldn't that be trespassing anyways?

I would like to see a blue-print style layout of things. It looks to me like it's perfectly feasble to have switched the locations of the ramp and stairs with no problem.
