I bought a house a few months ago but I have not moved in yet. I'm there every weekend working on it to make it move-in-ready by my standards.

The neighbor across from me gave me a Christmas basket today. Very nice of him but I didn't get him anything. :( oops

What should I do? Get him something and give it to him tomorrow? I feel like I need to get him something... I don't mind at all he's a great guy. I just haven't moved in yet otherwise I would have. if so, what should I get him? It's not really Christmas anymore which is why I don't know what to do.

Suggestions?
Thanks

Quite honestly, I think you're OK by getting him nothing. I'm sure it was a house warming/welcome to the neighborhood present too. When you're all moved in and the weather is nice invite him (and his family?) over for some burgers and a few beers.

Good neighbors do these sorts of things and don't expect anythign in return.

Do you have tools? If so, maybe he's getting on your good side so he can borrow them...

Maybe make some cookies or something. A lot of neighbors exchange Christmas cookies and the like.

How's his wife look? If she's hot, take her a nice..."gift wrapped dick-in-a-box."

Just wanted to say thanks for the nice gift basket your husband brought over. :p

You don't need to give him a gift just because he gave you one. Just be a good neighbor, help him out. Maybe give him a token of appreciation at some other point, but to rush out and give him a Christmas gift just because he gave you one isn't what it's all about.
