Neighbhor problems w/ house remodeling

Since we all love cliffs, I'll get right to them.

Cliffs
-Neighbhor calling city on my house remodeling project multiple times per week, inpectors coming over because they have to, never find anything.
-Neighbhor going over to the house to harrass my workers for information, and to pester them in general to disrupt their activities.
-Claims she will call a council meeting to prevent me from renting out the place when I finish or will bring me to court.
-Cops say don't file trespassing notice on her, and she has "every right" to call city.
-Her best friend is the mayor of the city.

What are my options?

she has the right to call. she does not have the right ot come over to your house.

1. Plant drugs in her house
2. call DEA
3. ...
4. PROFIT

Who cares what they say? If she's on your property uninvited and slowing the work down turn her in.

If this is actually happening, this is a clear case of harassment. Anytime she steps foot on your property, call the police. Can can also put a portable fence in between your house and her house.

Log everything, too, as someone above mentioned.

Yes its happening, its real. The cop last night who came over to serve the trespassing notice to her (which he said he didn't want to do) said it wasn't harrassment as it was her right, but I tried to explain to him that she is doing this all the time multiple times per week (according to the inspector she calls 3 times per day to his office), and its harrassment by proxy... She is only doing it to be a thorn, not because she is concerned with anything. He didn't seem to care... /shrug

I dont know what her main gripe is, the last I talked to her a few months ago she was going through the house telling me where the load bearing beams are (her house is an exact copy of mine and she remodeled hers 15 years ago) and she seemed friendly then. I did mention to her then I didn't know if I was gonna sell it or rent it out or live in it... It was up in the air. The only thing she mentinoed recently was if I rented it out shes calilng a council meeting. I think that is her gripe.

Shes in the city newsletter as "city task force leader."

She hasn't liked me or my family since we moved into the house 20 years ago. She told me 20 years ago when I was 11 years old I could not come to her sons birthday party because "I was too ugly." (her words.) She is just insane. I don't care what her problems are. I just want to finishi the house and sell it and be done with it, but she's getting in the way.

ohh taht explains it. you are a ugly motherfucker.

its ok. so am i.

You need to explain to her that the sooner she shuts her trap and stops being a pain in the ass, the sooner the remodel will be completed.

She sounds like a real turd. I'd just make sure I'd do everything by the books so she doesn't have anything to actually get you on, and use that trespassing order to get her off your back.

I fucking HATE people like this.. Too bad you actually care about this house..

If not, I might be tempted to put up the following add at the local parole office:

HOUSE FOR RENT

Lanloard is looking for a loud, crazy parolee. Must enjoy hosting house parties that last well into the morning, and have lots of like minded friends.
*Violent history, drug abuse, and hatred for *insert lady's race here* a plus

$100 per month, no deposit required.

Then make sure the new tenants find a brand new PA system in the garage and a crate full of gangster rap CD's

LOL! You took the words right out of my mouth. Fence FTW. 😉

Mob Solution - Is there a large volume you need to fill with concrete?

Do you know what her real problem is? Is it the noise? Seems like she's jealous of the money you will make from renting the place out.

The problem may not be the remodeling but the fact you are intending on renting the place afterwards.

If she can prevent/interrupt the remodeling, then you will be unable to rent the place.
Does the city have any zoning regulations?

My guess based on his posts is she doesn't want to live next door to "renters".

Umm did you get a city permit to build the addition? If so she is SOL and you are fine.

It is not her "right" to harass YOUR workers and delay their progress on YOUR dime. She can file anything she wants with the city and have inspectors come and inspect. However, I don't understand that in general. The inspection WILL be done whether she files something or not. Whats the point and why is the city even abiding by it? She is wasting the city's time and money too in that case.

Let her bitch and complain. If you have a permit for the construction, and it is zoned/approved for renting, then she is SOL.

Quote, if this is true, jsut tell her you are going to sell the place. then after the remodel is done, tell her to fsk off and rent it out.
