I have noticed that much like McCains ads, this forum is plastered with threads bashing Obama, much of which is untrue, and innuendo... all from a small cast of right slanted regulars... Is there really nothing positive that the McCain campaign has to offer that it has to be all negative (and mostly trumped up)? Are there no issues he wins debates on? The man has been in washington 25+ years, he must have something to offer?

There is a reason people call him McSame - if you want to see what he has to offer, one has to merely examine the Bush administration over the past 8 years and think 4 years more of the same.

In all fairness, I don't think McCain would be as bad as Bush. I don't think his warmongering advisors could convince him to start a war for no reason as easily.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but there you have it.

"McCain, many of the same policies as Bush, but not as stupid and gullible"

McCain not a warmonger? Surely you jest. He's even less responsible than Bush, the difference being that McCain knows what he's doing and will go for war anyway. Yes, he can't be pushed into war; his advisors don't need to do anything for McCain himself to push for war.

If I could believe that McCain is actually going to try to reduce the size of the government and reel in spending, I'd vote for him. Sadly, he has a history of lying and flip-flopping. As a former AZ citizen for most of my life, I know more about McCain than the average person. He's an opportunist. He'll say anything for a vote and then do whatever he needs in order to further his career. He lacks principles. He's much like a cheap whore - he'll do anything for a quick buck.

Sorry, but those who believe that McCain stands for smaller government and less spending have had the wool pulled over their eyes.

Agreed. I would say that McCain is far better than Bush on every issue EXCEPT war. If we elect McCain we are almost garanteed another costly war. War seems to be his answer for almost every international issue.

I support Obama, but here are the things I do like about McCain.

-Principled. I really never got this sense from GWB
-Willing to work across the isle - has co-authored significant legislation with dems (though he's towed the party line a lot more in recent years)
-Served his country
-Clearly has a grasp of national security (though too hawkish for my tastes)
-Seems willing to reach out beyond his base (log cabin republicans, AAs, etc.)
-Is against pork barrel spending and unlike others, can back up the talk
-Competent, intelligent
-Experienced
