Is neffing actually against the rules or just frowned upon?

I really think it has affected by the mood the mod is in at the time. Sometimes they play along, other times members are shown the door. Now if only there were a way to know the mod's mood.

Maybe, but no. There is nothing about rules in the FAQ.
These look like rules: ;)
1. If you are having a problem with the forums, please post them in Forum Issues. You are not guaranteed a response, but staff do periodically check the category.

2. If you are having trouble locating a thread do not ask the forum moderators or administrators where it might be as there are millions of messages in this forum; knowing where one is, is impossible.

I think he means rules like this:
1. If you are caught neffing you will be instantly struck down by a large piece of cheese.

2. If you annoy us, you and yours will be completely erased from existence. Forever.

I don't mind the inane threads as they are sometimes funny, but the postcount++ duplicate post threads have been pretty bad as of late and they always bug me as they are seldom of any value (even mild humor eludes them). I know these guys that post just wanna make lifer like its some kind of badge of honor, but enough is enough.

I wouldn't consider that a nef post. It's more along the lines of immature/unintelligent as it could be relevant to the topic.

I back that up, considering this thread is discussing an issue which affects the attitudes of people on the forums.

People who visit the forums do look at post counts, and the majortiy from my experience tend to find that someone with a higher post count will have more information and be more experienced. Sadly that is not always the case.

J00 is st00pid!

;)

People have been banned for neffing, so it is against the rules. Don;t ask me where they are spelled out tho.
