Needs some help with CD-R.

I have just upgraded my machine from an Asus K7M 700 AMD. To an Asus A7M 1.4Ghz AMD, and now for some unknown reason my 700 MB CD-R's are showing up as 648 MB. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but there are a couple of things I need to burn that require all of that space. So if anyone has any clues I would love to hear them. And yes I just flashed the firmware to the last revisioon found on Acers website. Oh yeah BTW the CDRW is an ACER 1832a.

Have you tried to burn them anyway? Mine always show up as 650 yet I can always fit 700 on them.

BTW: I use Nero and CloneCD

Hmm, my system is different from yours, but I have 700MB disc's however the software only recognizes (nero) as 650MB, perhaps it's the software?

If anyone know a solution to my problem as well, give a holler.

Edit: Wow, n/m, IamDavid just said a consistency, so maybe it's a glitch in the software.

Go to the software makers homepage, and see if they have any patches to correct this. I once had something similar happen with Soundstream, and Adaptec had a patch that corrected it (the only time adaptec has ever helped me).

The problem is that I know the CD is 700 MB 80 min and it worked before. Yes this is Max Payne and I tried to overburn with clone cd and it puked at the end saying end of media found. Also windows is also telling me that the CD is 648MB I could have sworn that in my old system windows reported 700 mb free.

OK if anyone out there with a CDRW and a blank 80 minute cd could just stick it into your burner and tell me how much space windows explorer says you have I would be happy.

if you use nero, go to file, preferences, advanced options, then do the whole overburn thing.

I have NEVER had my CD-RW tell me the availabe space, is this normal? It always has 0 and then if I burn something it says that amount that I burned. Used = 0, Free = 0. This is what confuses me when you say you use windows to view???
