I just got a new 120mm 5 bladed SUNON 5.4 Watt fan from the computer show (ball bearing)-a quick mount to the case frame showed that it dropped the CPU temp to 89F from 98F=nice.

Does anyone know any web sites where I can get the mounting screws for this fan frame and a site where I can buy 92MM and smaller fans for a reasonable price? I like relative quiet but good air flow and want to keep my AMD XP 1700+ CPU cool.

I have an old FULL TOWER ATX style case and what would you recommend I use in the way of fans in the case? Whats the best way to cut out the holes for the fans to mount in the side case panels? I am not a mechanic or tool shark.

I am using an el cheapo $12 AOC hsf now and wil replace that in the future-I AM NOT OVER CLOCKING NOW!

Thank you-

PS-I want to keep my old ATX case for now and am not yet ready for one of those $200 water cooled cases yet.
I also would like a web store where I can buy some mounting screws and maybe (2) 80 or 90 mm fans without the freight costing more than the fans.

Thanks-

Wheres the best place to mount the fan in the case panel relative to the CPU and the GPU?
What direction should the air flow in the case?
Thanks-

My you have a lot of questions :)

Take a look at the Enermax manually adjustable fans at newegg. They are $8 for the 80 and $11 for the 92. These may seem high at first but these are retail kits and come with the mounting screws you are talking about, grills, and a 3 to 4 pin adapter. You can adjust them by turning a screw for the speed/sound level you are comfortable with.

As far as airflow goes you usually want air to enter from the front of the case , flow over your drives, travel over the video card and cpu, then exit out of the top/back (since heat rises) to move the hottest air out.

89F for a cpu temp is very good btw

I haven't done much in the way of case mods. I used a drill to make a circle by placing numerous holes right next to each other and then a scroll saw to cut it out. also have used a dremel

Good luck

also try Plycon or sofisticated software for screws and crap

sometimes they have a special on bag - o - parts or something and ,more than likely they sell seperate screws as well (Plycon more likely)
