Not much luck with trying to get a hold of a live person for some warranty work. Have run into a roadblock from their website asking for a service tag. I have no clue what that is. Anyway, does anybody know how to get a hold of a "live person" to talk to about warranty work on my lcd. I have spent so much time trying to get somewhere and I am just spinning my wheels..
thanks

From what I gather, he wants to talk to someone from Dell about the warranty on his LCD.
By live person, you mean real person?

The service tag is on the back of your pc and will contain letters and numbers and is usually 7 digits. Like: HN1G171

if he just bought the moniter you don't have a service tag....try this number 1-866-876-3355, its for there gold tech support but you get a live person. Just tell them you need to talk to someone about a warranty exchange.

I had a hard drive fail on me a couple of weeks ago, called them up & they sent out a new one. I sent back the old one & haven't had a problem since.
Cutomer service was great in my experience.

I ended up using a service tag from an old computer just to get someone on the line. I had a hard time getting them to understand that I only used it to get a support person on the phone but it worked. Everytime I call Dell for support it takes at least 3 phone calls and an hour of my time. Their support system is horrible.

You can chat with them online, that is typically pretty quick and painless.

You can call them and press the correct menu options. It is in there, but it can be a maze. Expect to be on hold for at least an hour when you call so that you don't have to hang up halfway into the wait.

You can email them. Email used to be a bad idea with Dell, but I hear that responses are much more quick than they used to be.

Or you can go to their online forums and find out how to proceed from there.

Works best for me. Hit a few speed bumps but works fairly well.

Well I just got off the phone with John (was located in the south pacific) real nice guy. Anyway, today was the first day that I was able to talk with someone and finally got things straightened out. I have had a problem with the monitor having an appearance similiar to that of water stained on wallpaper. It started out on the right side of monitor and then appeared in the middle of the monitor (was progressively getting worse). To make a long story short, he gave me a case number and told me they would send out a new monitor next week. He also indicated for me to try it for a few days before sending back the old one. All in all it was a good experience ONCE I finally was able to speak to someone.
